We’re back and we had a wonderful time. The resort was magnificent in every way. It was beautiful, our apartment was gorgeous and had a spectacular view from every room, the sailing was great and service was top notch. I just loved it! we have some good GoPro videos coming – need to go through them. In the meantime, here are some photos. All the photos are on Flickr and can be accessed from my FB page.

Oh, those lovely summer days and nights! We have just been enjoying the hell out of them. Kids are on the swim team and are taking sailing lessons. We’ve been to the beach about 10 times. Been over to Hemlock three times. I had quite the birthday celebration which I am drying out from now….yikes. This week is supposed to be “get my shite together week”, but it was soooo beautiful today…..we had to go to the beach again. The ocean was amazing. Clean and swell-y – big, rolling waves that don’t toss you around much – they just lift and fall. Lovely.
I conned the kids into doing some errands with me by promising them Slurpees. They’re FREE today you know….start your engines! They were small, but dee-lish. Extra dee-lish since they didn’t cost me anything!
This Wednesday is our 15 year anniversary. It makes me smile. I have loved it all – good, wonderful, bad and ugly. You still do it all for me Larry Schaefer and I love you more than you’ll ever know.
Enough of that! We’ll be celebrating at the BYC’s Watermelon Martini Happy Hour. I will not be drinking those cocktails of trickery! I’ve seen far too many “pink” fools and even a few yawning technicolor after a few of these….Still a great happy hour – awesome food. So it should be a wonderful evening.
I’ve farmed out the kids for this Saturday. We’ll be “adult” sailing with folks from Larry’s office. No, adult doesn’t mean R rated, just adults only!!! We’ll sail and then come home for dinner. Sunday it is off to Watch Hill!!!!!!!YIPPEE!!!!! Then on to Sailor’s Haven. A week with my family on Miss Gracie….so good for my soul.
Yeah, I know it’s wrong, I just like the fun of it.
Richard Tesoro has finally forwarded photos to Pete and he in turn has posted them to the website. Richard is a fabulous photographer. Here are some pictures of the 2011 Frostbiting Season. Our Flying Scot is #4223, named Twelve.
Larry and Chris Sicignano
Dave Johnson (one of the funniest guys ever), Maria Parascandolo and (as if you couldn’t tell….) her sister Taryn Birkmire. During the summer, I race with Maria and Taryn. With Taryn as skipper, we won the Women’s Championship and will be racing the GSBYRA Championships on June 12th. They’re great women.
The fleet coming up on the mark.
The Unbeatables: David “Lite” Hyer, Dave “Classic” Hyer and “Commander” Greg Schneller.
Chris “seachig” Sicignano, Daisy Holzmacher and Capt. Larry
Out in front is Ian Holzmacher, Past Commodore Ken Goodwin and Skipper Carl Galian
Larry and Chris again with the Clubhouse in the background. Great shot.
Just received some old photos of Larry’s Dad and his brothers and his father. They grew up in Rockaway, literally on the beach. Amazing. They thought nothing of it. Today, as a gift of the “great” Robert Moses, all this real estate is now highway, etc. What a shame. Anyhoo, Laurie (Larry’s dad) and his brothers (Dick and Gregor) and his dad built a boat! The Cathrie. Dick had something wrong with him – still need to get that story – and had to stay home for a long time. He was bored and they all decided this was a great idea. It was a great idea. Lookie here. You can see army barracks in the background of the first photo. Larry’s dad is in the second. Laurie and Pop Pop (in his suit, of course) in the third. Laurie and either Doris (his wife) or Cathleen (his sister) in the last. Look at the Lighthouse in the background. So awesome.
that cries about getting up at 6:30am each day with the dog? Well, if there isn’t maybe I’ll write one. Hearing the alarm go off and knowing it’s time to get out of my warm, cozy crib and go down to the cold downstairs all alone just isn’t something I like. Because while I love my puppy to death, getting up at 6:30am SUCKS. Of course, once I’m downstairs I just love seeing him and getting up becomes a memory. But for those first few moments when I look at the clock……groan.
Our friend and neighbor, Carl, posted some nice shots on FB yesterday of last Saturday’s BYC Frostbiting. I know it’s not Photo Saturday, but they’re pretty good photos. It was a nice day and one of the warmer ones we’ve had in the last two weeks. Average temp was 43 degrees and the wind was fairly light in the morning (as you can see) and then picked up a bit as the day moved on. The first shot is of Larry and Carl and was, I assume, taken by Harry Manko. The other shot was taken by Carl (the artist). They look like they were taken on different days, don’t they? The weather and light can change so dramatically, so quickly!
